Who we are
This site is run by The Victorian Craft Beer Cafe, 18-22 Powell Street, Halifax HX1 1LN. We are responsible for the information described on this page. To reach us about your data, email enquiries@victorian.beer.
The short version
We collect what you type into our two forms, the venue hire enquiry and the job application, and we use it to reply to you. We don’t sell it, share it or use it for anything else. The site sets no cookies for visitors and does no tracking.
The slightly longer version
The forms. The venue hire enquiry asks for your name, phone, email, number of guests and your message, and is emailed to enquiries@victorian.beer. The job application asks for your name, phone, email, your message and a tick to confirm you are 18 or over, and is emailed to jobs@victorian.beer. We keep the email as long as the conversation is useful. The website sends these emails through Resend, an email delivery service, which handles each message on its way to us. The website itself keeps a note for 30 days that a message was sent and whether it arrived, without its contents.
Cookies. None for visitors. Staff who log in to update the site get the standard WordPress login cookies, which do nothing except keep them logged in.
Tracking. None.
Analytics. We count visits from our own server’s logs, with the last part of each visitor’s address removed before anything is kept. The counts are aggregate (how many visits, which pages, which countries) and are kept for 15 months. No cookies and no third-party service are involved.
Server logs. Our server keeps a full log of requests, including your IP address, for 14 days. We don’t look at it except to stop abuse, and software on the server uses it to block repeat attackers automatically.
Spam control. Our forms use an invisible proof-of-work check: no third-party widget, no captcha, no fingerprinting.
Instagram. The photos on our home page are copies stored on our own server; nothing from Instagram loads on this site. If you click a photo you go to instagram.com in a new tab, where Instagram’s own policy applies.
Map. The map on our contact page is a picture. Clicking it opens Google Maps in a new tab, where Google’s policy applies.
Fonts and other files. Everything our pages need is served from our own server. There are no third-party scripts or embeds.
Hosting. The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services in London.
Your rights
You can ask us to delete anything you have sent us at any time: reply to the thread and say so, or email enquiries@victorian.beer.
If you think we have mishandled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first, so please get in touch with us too.
